In this workshop, Savannah will guide students through the process of creating a figure painting: in a seven-day intensive course, each student will work on the composition of a single long pose through the various steps, from setting up the pencil drawing to applying the final layer of oil colour to the canvas.

Workshop Structure

A painting in several steps

A live model will be present during each day of the course. On the first day of work, the pose will be set on paper, focusing on an accurate rendering of the proportions through gesture; the drawing will then be transferred to canvas and the background painting will be done before modelling each part of the figure section by section.

Who it is aimed at

Artists (and aspiring artists) of all levels are welcome, but some experience in drawing would be advisable before attempting to paint; those who do not wish to paint can certainly work with pencil on paper.

Mastery of colour

The aim is for the students to acquire a greater awareness of the colours and nuances that characterise the complexion, through an in-depth study of the painting techniques studied over the years by the American artist. It will also be an opportunity to compare the different interpretations of the various art academies overseas.
